Notice 05-14-2025 : It is our pleasure to announce the launch of our updated municipal website, designed to better serve our residents and visitors.

When applying for a building permit with the Town of Woodland, please bring the completed Driveway Permit form along with the completed Building Permit form to the Plan Commission Meeting to present your building idea. Meetings are held the 2nd Monday of each month.  (Please plan accordingly, as there is only ONE meeting per month.  NO work should begin before all permits are in place.) Please be sure to have the Building Permit form completed, have a drawing of what is being proposed-site plan with measurements, and be prepared to answer questions about Sauk County permits in front of the Plan Commission.  If the Building Permit is approved at the Plan Commission meeting, please plan to present your idea for Building project again, that same night, at the Town Board meeting that follows directly after the Plan Commission Meeting.

Driveway Permit:  Please download, print, complete, and bring to the Plan Commission Meeting and the Regular Town Board Meeting; along with $50

Once the Town of Woodland Board has reviewed and approved the Building Permit, please proceed to the General Engineering site to complete their building permit form. General Engineering Company has an online permit process.  Prior to submitting your application, please be sure to gather the following as need for your specific permit:

  • Contractor information, including license number(s) and expiration date(s)
  • Electronic copies of all plans Including site plans
  • Parcel Number this can be found at Sauk County Tax Parcel iSite

What Happens After I Submit My Application?

The building inspector will review your application/plans and contact you if additional information is needed.  After your permit is approved and the fees are calculated, you will be contacted by email and informed of the fees and payment options.  After receiving the payment, your GEC permit will be issued and emailed to you.  No work should begin until you have an issued permit.
